Notice of Registry Maintenance – Neustar

On January 29, 2017, Neustar is performing system maintenance to further improve their registry system.

In order to successfully complete the maintenance there will be a 4 hour maintenance window from 19:00 PT on January 29, 2017 to 23:00 PT on January 29, 2017. During this time, certain Registrant transactions will be intermittently impacted. This maintenance only pertains to Neustar related domains, which are listed here. No other domain extensions are affected.

Please note that all Neustar domain names will continue to function normally throughout the maintenance period. The maintenance being performed only affects the ability to perform updates to information or functionality of Neustar domains. The following transactions will be impacted during the service maintenance:

  • You will not be able to submit new Neustar domain registrations.
  • You will not be able to update or renew existing Neustar domain names.

On Saturday Jan 20, Verisign is performing system maintenance to further improve the .COM and .NET registry system.

In order to successfully complete the maintenance there will be a 1 hour maintenance window from 5:00 PM PT on Jan 20 to 6:00 PM PT on Jan 20. During this time, certain Registrant transactions will be intermittently impacted. This maintenance only pertains to .COM and .NET domains. No other domain extensions are affected.

Please note that all .COM and .NET domain names will continue to function normally throughout the maintenance period. The maintenance being performed only affects the ability to perform updates to information or functionality of .COM and .NET domains.

RESOLVED – DNS Server Updates and Resulting Issues

Webnames has recently been experiencing DNS server availability issues stemming from the patching of DNS servers for Spectre and/or Meltdown, both on Webnames servers, as well as those of our upstream providers. Many of the patches have been hastily released and are proving problematic when implemented.

UPDATE: As of 8:00 AM PT all DNS servers are now up and fully functional, as are the services of our upstream providers. 

Customers using Webnames for website hosting and email should now be fully functional. The Webnames.ca website should now also be fully functional.

Office Power Disruption

Power has been restored and we are back up and running. Thank you everyone for your patience. Let is snow!

The Vancouver office is currently experiencing an area-wide power disruption. Our data center is not affected by this, and no customer services are affected, however the office containing our support staff is without internet. Phone services/support are still functioning and available.

On December 14th, 2017 the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is performing system maintenance to further improve the .CA registry system.

In order to successfully complete the maintenance there will be a 3 hour maintenance window from 22:00 PT on December 14th to 01:00 PT on December 15th. During this time, certain Registrant transactions will be intermittently impacted. This maintenance only pertains to .CA domains. No other domain extensions are affected.

Please note that all .CA domain names will continue to function normally throughout the maintenance period. The maintenance being performed only affects the ability to perform updates to information or functionality of .CA domains. The following transactions will be impacted during the service maintenance:

  • You will not be able to submit new .CA domain registrations.
  • You will not be able to approve the CIRA Registrant Agreement.
  • You will not be able to update or renew existing .CA domain names.
  • The To Be Released list will not be accessible.
  • WHOIS will not be accessible.
